  • Reassure them that they are safe

  • Emphasize simple things ... to be “germ busters” — for all types of germs that are out there

FREE Access to broadband and Wi-Fi
  • Spectrum and Optimum/Altice are offering free broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum or Optimum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps.   Installation fees will be waived for new student households.

FOR REMOTE LEARNING STUDENTS
BREAKFAST & LUNCH
Meals are available at 400 NYC public school sites. A Google map of sites can be found on the DOE website: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/food/take-out-meals.  

Meals are available for pick-up of DOE school buildings from 9:00 am-12:00 pm.  Any NYC student can pick up meals.  You can also call 311 for more information.

CHILDCARE FOR CHILDREN OF FIRST RESPONDERS  

If you are a parent and work as a healthcare provider, FDNY, NYPD, OEM or other eligible front-line worker, there are Regional Enrichment Centers (RECs) set up for your children. For more information, eligible parents can complete the survey here: https://bit.ly/2xfzEVe.

Hunger Free NYC Produces Neighborhood Guides to Food & Assistance containing detailed information on free food access in Brooklyn & Queens.  Users can learn how and where to access SNAP/Food Stamps, WIC, School and Summer Meals, senior meals, soup kitchens and food pantries, and farmer's markets that accept SNAP as payment.  The guides also include a map showing the locations of these sites.

LEXIA READING CORE5
Lexia is an individualized research-proven literacy computer program used at Bushwick Ascend.  Scholars can also access Lexia at home at https://www.lexiacore5.com!  Free online access is available for scholars to continue developing and practicing reading skills at home.
Lexia is accessible via iPad (Lexia Core5), Android tablets, Chromebooks, browser, or download.

Learning A-Z is offering a FREE subscription to Raz-Kids and/or Headsprout to help learning continue while out of the physical classroom, in light of the coronaviurs.  This offer is valid through the end of the school year.*

  • Raz-Kids is a digital resource that provides a library of differentiated books students can use to practice reading wherever they are (Internet connection required).

  • Headsprout is an online K–5 reading program that adapts to the needs of the individual student. It is self-paced, which makes it ideal for at-home practice.
